MCREST Men’s Shelter

As part of MCREST’s continued efforts to expand services for individuals experiencing homelessness in Macomb County, a new men’s shelter facility was recently constructed in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. The project, completed by Constructeam, provides essential living spaces and restroom facilities designed for durability, cleanliness, and long-term reliability.

The restroom area includes three individual shower stalls finished with Mermaid Shower Panels, a waterproof wall panel system designed for commercial environments. The large-format panels create a smooth, seamless surface with minimal joints, helping reduce areas where moisture and buildup can occur while making daily cleaning easier for staff.

In addition to the shower stalls, the facility includes a waterproof backer panel installed behind the toilets. This protective surface helps prevent wall damage from moisture and allows the space to be cleaned quickly and efficiently.

By incorporating durable, low-maintenance materials like Mermaid Shower Panels, the new men’s shelter provides a hygienic and reliable restroom environment that can withstand heavy daily use while supporting MCREST’s mission to serve the local community.

Material Spotlight: Mermaid Shower Panels

Mermaid Shower Panels provide a durable alternative to traditional tile in commercial bathrooms. The large waterproof panels reduce grout lines, making surfaces easier to clean and maintain.

Their strength and low-maintenance finish make them well suited for high-traffic environments such as shelters, healthcare facilities, and other commercial spaces.
