H.J. Oldenkamp, Corian Design, and Designers Choice Support Memphis Veterans Village
A New Beginning for Memphis Veterans
The Memphis Veterans Village transforms a former hotel into 110 units of affordable, permanent supportive housing for veterans who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness. The facility officially opened in Memphis on August 14, 2026, with local leaders, veterans, and community partners gathering to celebrate the milestone.
More than a place to live, the village is designed to connect residents with the resources they need to build stability and move forward. On-site services include behavioral health support, employment assistance, case management, and veterans’ service advocates.
A National Mission
Memphis Veterans Village is part of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s broader effort to address veteran homelessness across the country. The foundation was established in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and has since expanded its mission to support veterans, first responders, and their families.
In addition to developing supportive housing, Tunnel to Towers provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star families and families of fallen first responders with young children. The foundation also builds specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
Craftsmanship That Makes a Difference
As part of the project, Corian® Quartz was used throughout many of the housing units, with Designers Choice fabricating the material for the project. The durable, practical surfaces help create comfortable and functional living spaces for residents while supporting the long-term needs of the facility.
The project brought together Corian® Design materials, H.J. Oldenkamp’s distribution support, and the fabrication expertise of Designers Choice to help turn these spaces into finished homes for the veterans who will live there.
Every detail, from the overall renovation to the materials selected for each unit, contributes to creating a welcoming environment where veterans can feel safe, respected, and at home.
Housing Paired With Support
The Memphis Veterans Village reflects an important approach to addressing homelessness: providing housing alongside the services that help people maintain it.
Permanent housing gives residents a dependable foundation. Supportive services can then help address barriers such as health care, employment, financial stability, and access to veteran-specific resources. Together, these elements create an opportunity for residents to establish lasting independence and community connection.
