How to Clean Corian® Solid Surface: A Complete Guide

Corian® solid surfaces, developed by DuPont, are known for their sleek look, seamless appearance, and exceptional durability. Whether in kitchens, bathrooms, or workspaces, Corian adds a modern touch with minimal maintenance. But to keep it looking pristine, you need to know the right way to clean and care for it.

In this guide we’ll walk you through everyday cleaning and stain removal to keep your Corian® surfaces looking brand new.

Everyday Cleaning

Corian is nonporous, meaning it resists moisture, bacteria, and stains—great for everyday use. Here’s how to clean it daily:

What You’ll Need:

  1. Soft cloth or sponge
  2. Warm water
  3. Mild dish soap

Steps:

  • Dampen the cloth with warm, soapy water.
  • Wipe the surface gently to remove crumbs, spills, and dust.
  • Rinse with clean water.
  •  Dry with a microfiber cloth to prevent water spots.

Tip: Always wipe up spills quickly, especially from acidic substances like vinegar, lemon juice, or wine.

Removing Stubborn Stains

Even though Corian resists staining, it can still be affected by things like food dyes, ink, or hard water. Here’s how to tackle tougher spots:

General Stains:

  • Use a non-abrasive household cleaner (like Formula 409®, Fantastik®, or Soft Scrub® without bleach).
  • Apply cleaner to a damp sponge.
  • Gently scrub the stain in a circular motion.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry.

Hard Water Marks:

  • Mix equal parts vinegar and water.
  • Spray the solution onto the stain.
  • Let it sit for a few minutes.
  • Wipe with a soft cloth, rinse, and dry.

Warning: Avoid using strong chemicals like oven cleaners, drain openers, or acetone. If a strong chemical spill occurs, rinse the area immediately with water.

What to Avoid

  • Don’t cut directly on Corian—use a cutting board.
  • Don’t place hot pots or pans directly on the surface—use trivets or heat pads.
  • Avoid abrasive scrubbing pads (like steel wool) and harsh chemical cleaners.

Final Thoughts

With the right care, your Corian® solid surface will stay beautiful for years to come. The key is regular cleaning, gentle care, and quick response to spills. It’s a small effort for a surface that offers so much in terms of aesthetics and performance.
